Is my ordering information private?

Yes. We do not collect any information about visitors to the site, except the information required to fill orders and respond to inquiries. That information is strictly confidential within our company; we will not share it with anyone else. You can receive monthly newsletters from us providing information regarding new products and recipes.  If you wish to receive such information complete the "Sign Me Up" box on the front page.  

Is my credit card information secure when I order?

Yes. We use SSL (secure socket layer) encryption to ensure that your credit card information reaches us, and only us. You can validate this by identifying the locked padlock symbol that is displayed when you place an order.  This is industry-standard encryption that major web sites use to protect users all over the web.  When you have completed your check out form, we transmit directly to the credit card processing company to obtain approval.  You will receive immediate confirmation of the order via email.

Is Salt Watcher a publicly traded company or privately held?

Salt Watcher is a privately held, family owned business


Why is the nutritional information on the product label different than the nutritional information listed on the website?

The nutritional information contained on this site in the list of Nutritional Facts is based on data provided by the manufacturer, which is currently available to us.  However, because data may be changed from time to time by the manufacturer, this information may not always be identical to the nutritional label information provided on the product label.  We make every effort to make sure that the information we receive from the manufacturer and reproduced here is accurate and consistent.  If you identify an inconsistency, please email us at info@saltwatcher.com.

Can I place an order other than through the Internet?

There are several ways you can place an order.  They are: on line via our web store, via fax or via the telephone.

Ordering via our web store:
Browse through the aisle of our web store to find the items you are interested in.  Check the picture to obtain additional information regarding the item, such as nutritional information and ingredients or just click the buy button.  This will automatically place one of that item into your shopping cart.  You can change the number on any item prior to checking out.  When you have finished browsing the aisles and have selected all the items you need, click the shopping cart button to review your order.  You can make any changes/deletions at this time.  Once you are satisfied with your order, select checkout and complete the checkout information.  Remember, this section of the ordering process is located on our secure server.  After completing the checkout information, you will be presented a screen with your merchandise total, estimated shipping total and grand total for your order.  At that time you can determine if you wish to complete your order.  Once you place your order, a confirmation email will be sent to you indicating the items you have ordered, along with your checkout information. 

Ordering via fax:
Complete the same process as indicated above, however, when you get to the checkout information, you will see a box indicating you want to fax or telephone your order.  Continue to complete the form and print.  You can then add your credit card information and fax the form toll free to 1- 866- 374-3785.  Since shipping has not been calculated at the time the order form is printed, shipping will be added and charged to your credit card.  You will be provided with a receipt of the shipping charges.

Ordering via telephone:
Complete the same process as if you were ordering via fax, however, once you have completed the form, call us with your order at 1-252-449-0278

Can I bill to one location and ship to another?

Yes, our checkout form has a space to indicate a shipping location and a different billing location.  If both are the same, only the billing location needs to be completed.  Please remember that the billing location must be exactly as indicated with your credit card.  Any discrepancy of information will delay authorization on your order.

I am placing an order as a gift.  When the order is delivered, can you include a special message from me?

Yes, if you are sending your order as a gift and want to indicate a special message, the checkout form provides you with an area to inform us of your message.  We will then transcribe your message onto a card and include the card and message with your order.  Please remember to complete the shipping address with the name and address of the individual to whom you are sending the order


Do I have to be home to receive my order?

No, our shipping partners do not require a customer signature.  As a result, you do not need to be home to receive your order.

Can I cancel an order?

Orders can only be canceled within 2 hours of placing the order, since we strive to get orders out as quickly as possible.  After two hours, fulfillment of your order may already be in process.

Can items be returned to Salt Watcher?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept returns.  If you receive an item that is damaged or unusable, please contact us immediately at 1-252-449-0278.  If the exterior of the shipping box is damaged, please also notify the shipping company indicated on the box.  All claims for damaged or unusable goods must be made within 5 days of delivery.  Please note that we can not refund shipping costs.

What happens when I order multiple items and one of the items is out of stock?

We attempt to indicate on the site when an item is out of stock, so they are not ordered during that time.  If you have ordered an item that is temporarily out of stock, we will do one of two things.  If the out of stock item is due back in stock within a few days, we may hold your order to wait for that item.  If this occurs, we will inform you via email.  Otherwise we will not hold up the remaining items on your order; we will ship available items immediately, and credit your credit card for the out of stock items.


The packing slip included with your order will indicate the items that have been shipped and those currently not available. 

Is Salt Watcher affiliated with the companies linked to your website?

No, we have provided links to other websites that we thought might be of interest to you. When you access any of these websites, you do so at your own risk and Salt Watcher is not responsible for the accuracy or reliability of any information, data, opinions, advice, or statements made on these sites. Does Salt Watcher carry foods that are Kosher?

Yes, however, not all foods offered by Salt Watcher are Kosher. A determination of which products are and are not kosher is the responsibility of their respective manufacturer. When Salt Watcher is notified by a company that their product has been certified as Kosher, we indicate this with the detailed description of the product.

In order for a manufacturer to identify any food product to be certified Kosher, the actual production must be rabbinically supervised. The Rabbi visits on a regular basis when the product run is in process; he inspects the machines prior to production and verifies that every step required by Jewish Law has been observed and fulfilled.


Can I obtain samples of the items carried in the Salt Watcher web store?


No, just as your local grocery store does not provide samples, Salt Watcher is also unable to provide samples.  We attempt to accurately describe each product to allow you to make an informed decision before purchasing.

Does Salt Watcher accept coupons?

We are not set up to accept coupons; therefore they can not be used.

What are your shipping policies?

Our standard shipping partner is UPS ground.  UPS shipping costs are calculated based on a variety of factors.  Some of the common factors include the shipping zone the package is being sent, the weight of the package, size of the package and if the package is being delivered to a remote location.  Depending on the specific order additional factors may arise.  We utilize these factors to provide regional shipping costs which are listed below. In addition, a UPS fuel surcharge will be added to the figures on the chart and and will be included in your total shipping charge shown after completing your check out (before charging your card).

When can I expect to receive my order?

ORDERS CONTAINING "DELI" ITEMS

Shipment of orders containing deli items depends on the distance between Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina and where the order is being delivered, and the time of year.  Deliveries in the 2 day delivery zone for UPS (see map below) are sent UPS ground.  Those outside of the 2 day UPS delivery zone are split to have the non-deli items sent UPS ground and the deli items are historically sent UPS 3 Day Select.  During the late fall and winter months when the outside temperature in much of the country, is typically below 50 degrees, we may expand the UPS ground to their 3 day delivery zone.  The check out form attempts to calculate shipping cost using UPS ground costs, however if your order requires shipment by an alternative method of shipping such as UPS 3 Day Select, your credit card will be charged for any actual additional shipping charges.  You will be provided with a receipt of any additional charges made to your card.

To ensure uninterrupted shipping time, a shipment may be held until the following Monday to prevent any deli shipments from sitting in the UPS warehouse over a weekend

NON-DELI ORDERS

Unless otherwise stated, all non-deli orders are shipped via UPS ground.  Most in-stock orders are filled within one business day of placing the order, all by 2 business days.  The shipping time varies, depending on where you are located.  Below is a map indicating the estimated shipping times provided by UPS.  Please remember that these times are after UPS picks up the package and only Monday through Friday is used when calculating the days.  When estimating the delivery date, add 2 days to the number of days listed on the map below.

Why does my order not indicate the shipping charge?

If you place a very large order that results in the total items weighing 45 pounds or more, we do not attempt to calculate shipping as it will be dependent on the size and number of boxes that will be necessary to fill your order.  Rather than over estimate, we package your order and charge your credit card the actual shipping cost.  You will be provided a receipt of the charge for shipping.


Can I ship my order to a Post Office Box?

We ship our packages via UPS which is not able to deliver to Post Office Boxes.   You will need to provide a street address for delivery. 


What happens if I indicate the wrong shipping address?

Since we will not know that you have provided an incorrect shipping address until UPS attempts to deliver the order, we handle as normal.  However, if UPS must re-direct the order to another address than the one provided at the time of the order, they charge an address correction fee.  THIS FEE WILL BE PASSED ALONG TO YOU.  As of 1-1-2008, UPS fee for address correction is $10.00.  To prevent this charge from being incurred, please make sure that the shipping address is correct at the time of your order.


 Can I have an order sent to an international location?

Unfortunately at the present time we are not set up to ship outside the United States.  Our standard method of shipping is via UPS Ground Delivery.


Do you ship or deliver on weekends or holidays?

We do not ship or deliver on weekends or holidays.  We fill orders Monday through Friday.  As a result orders placed over the weekend or on a holiday, will not be processed until the following 1 to 2 days business days. 


 Do you offer volume or case discounts?

Yes, when a case of twelve of the same item is ordered, we provide a "bakers dozen" by providing an additional one of the same product, i.e. buy 12 - receive 13.

Why are orders sent in various product manufacturer shipping boxes?

We receive and store many of our products in their manufacturer case box.  At Salt Watcher we believe in helping our environment and recycling.  As a result, we recycle these boxes for shipping our orders and also recycle newspaper for some product wrapping and fill.  All orders are carefully packaged and sealed to ensure safe delivery of your order.

Is the insulated container used for shipping deli items returnable for credit?

We utilize three different size insulated containers. Due to storage space constraints only the larger insulated container (with the associated coolant packs) can be returned at your expense to Salt Watcher. We will then hold your container for a maximum of 3 months. If you place an order containing deli or refrigerated items during those 3 months, the system will automatically calculate a new container cost at the time the order is placed. However when your refrigerated order is shipped, your credit card will be credited for the $13.00 new insulated container charge. If the insulated container is returned but the coolant packs are not, you will only be credited $11.00, as new coolant packs will need to be utilize. How large is the insulated container?

The insulated containers come in various sizes. The smaller non-returnable containers have an inside dimension of 8 inches by 6 inches and 9 inches high for the small cooler or 12 inches high on the medium cooler.  The larger returnable container is 14 inches by 12 inches by 11 inches high.   All insulated containers have 1.5 inches thick foam sides.  The small coolers can hold approximately 4 to 5 deli items, while the medium cooler will hold 6 to 7 deli items and the large cooler will hold approximately 12 to 18 deli items, depending on the items.  When you order an item from the refrigerated-cheese-deli aisle you are automatically charged for a large cooler and ground shipping.  If we are able to place your order into a medium or small cooler, we will do so and credit your card the cost difference.  The coolers and ice packs cost us the following, which is what is pass along to you:

    • Large Insulated Container -- 13.00
    • Medium Insulated Container -- 11.00 (if this size is utilized for your order, your card will be credit 2.00)
    • Small Insulated Container -- 9.00 (if this size is utilized for your order, your card will be credited 4.00)

Why are some items out of stock for a long time?

Salt Watcher obtains some of its products direct from the manufacturer. Most of our items are obtained from various food distributors. Most food distributors do not keep large volumes of low sodium foods in their inventory due to lack of demand by most large supermarket chains. As a result, if an item has little interest, the distributor may not order the item until enough demand has occurred. We try to obtain out of stock items through other distributors or direct, if possible.  If unable to resolve the out of stock issue, the product may be removed from website.
